How we make money

Covered Weight can earn a fee when a reader uses some of the links on this site. No such link is live today. This page names how that works, where those links may appear, and the places they are banned outright, which includes every page about appealing a denial.

By the Covered Weight editorial team. Research and sourcing by Evan Reid.

The disclosure

We link to some companies that pay us. Those links are labeled Sponsored and marked nofollow. Payment never changes what a policy document says, no partner reviews our coverage data before it publishes, and we carry no paid links on our appeal pages.

Nothing is live yet

Every paid link on this site is switched off. The components exist and the relationships are registered, and none of them render. This page is published anyway, because a disclosure a reader meets for the first time on the day the first paid link appears is not a disclosure they can rely on.

Who pays us

  • OrderlyMeds, telehealth, paid as a one-time fee per new customer.
  • T2D.com, telehealth, paid as a recurring monthly fee.
  • BariatricPal Store, retail, paid as a percentage of order value.
  • Bariatric Fusion, supplement, paid as a percentage of order value.
  • BariSlim, supplement, paid as a percentage of order value.

Where a paid link may appear

Only where there is no coverage left to win. A page or a tool result that ends with an exclusion, a plan-level no, or a treatment the plan does not list is a place where a cash price is genuinely the next question. Anywhere the reader still has a coverage route open, a commercial link competes with the answer.

When a paid link does appear, the disclosure sits above it in the page rather than below, and the link sits below a labeled divider so it is never mistaken for part of the answer.

Where a paid link is banned

  • Every page in the appeal cluster. Selling to somebody mid-appeal is predatory, and those pages are also the ones other organisations link to.
  • Any section about side effects, contraindications, dosing, or comparing treatments.
  • Inside a tool result. The verdict and the checklist render clean.
  • Any page where a plan or a manufacturer would benefit from the placement.

Those are enforced by checks that fail the build rather than by policy. The independence page sets out the full covenant.

What we do not do

No advertising, no sponsored content, no paid placement in any table, and no arrangement that lets a payer, a manufacturer or an agency see or influence coverage data before it publishes. We also do not enrol a partner presenting a compounded product as the branded drug, at any commission rate.
